MacRebur featured in the Sustainable Business Magazine
Sustainable Business Magazine has uploaded the feature on heatwave myths – you can read here.
High temperatures in the UK have led to tarmac on runways and roads appearing to ‘melt’, costing millions of pounds annually. MacRebur is addressing this issue by processing waste plastics destined for landfill or incineration and adding them to asphalt for road construction and surfacing.
MacRebur’s recycled innovation, MR6, has a higher melting point, making it particularly popular in countries with warmer temperatures. By incorporating sustainable polymers into the bitumen used to build roads, MacRebur can future-proof the transport network against rising temperatures.
After 18 months and 501 tests, the correct formulation was found to incorporate sustainable polymers into the bitumen used in road construction, resulting in MR6.
MacRebur’s roads are now available worldwide, with a projected lifespan of 500 years and increased durability due to plastic’s ability to cope with weather contraction and expansion.
